Although a bit jet lagged, we set about visiting ancestral locations with the aid
of our trusty guides, my uncles Frank and Donal.

Cemetery at St. Bridget's Well
just south of the Cliffs of Moher
attraction.  Off of the road from
Moher to Liscannor.

In St. Bridget's Well Cemetery is
this marker listing Jimmy Considine.
Jimmy is a grandson of Helen (Ellen?) Garrahy and John Considine.  His parents are Daniel "Danny Considine and ___

Jimmy was accidentally shot by
friends while out hunting. The boys
were afraid they would get into
trouble and Jimmy bled to death.

Anthony and Daniel were___
The date for Helen may be wrong.
Frank thinks it should be ___

Another marker nearby that lists:
1. Bridie O'Connor, my
generation's grand aunt (she
died at age 19 years); and 2. Brigid
O'Connor, Francie's wife.

mvc-174s.jpg (33248 bytes)

On the road from Moher to Lahinch,
we stopped in the town of Liscannor.
While there, we visited Francis "Francie"
O'Connor for a few minutes.  Francie
 is our grandmother, Mary Kate's
younger brother.

mvc-172s.jpg (60985 bytes) mvc-173s.jpg (41928 bytes)

These two houses belong to Francie's
stepbrother and son.

mvc-175s.jpg (57216 bytes)

Further along the road from Liscannor to Lahinch, in the town of _____,
we stopped at these ruins at
 Kilmacrehy Cemetery.  Donal
pointed out that a distant
relative ___ might be buried
in one of the chambers.

mvc-176s.jpg (258041 bytes)

Located in these ruins is the
gravesite of Tom O'Connor
(Francie's father).
One of the capstones marks
the resting place.

mvc-183s.jpg (56139 bytes)

Atop a hill in the town of Ennistymon
 is this schoolhouse where
Bridget attended elementary school
at the Mercy Convent School.

mvc-184s.jpg (87188 bytes)

Below the schoolhouse is
St. Michael's Church, Ennistymon.  Possibly renovated, this is where
Bridget was confirmed  and
Francis was baptized.

mvc-189s.jpg (40802 bytes) mvc-190s.jpg (43754 bytes)

Away from the center of the town of Ennistymon is the "House on the Lake."
This is where Donal, Bridget and Francis grew up.  It is located
on the road _______

mvc-185s.jpg (46614 bytes)

Further down the road from the "House on the Lake" and the Kennedy
property (Mr. Jimmy Kennedy is Frank's godfather) is the
Moughna Cemetery. Many of our forefathers on my generation's
great-grandmother, Ellen Considine's side, are buried here.

mvc-186s.jpg (238277 bytes) mvc-187s.jpg (207278 bytes)

And this memorial stone lists many distant relatives.  They are ___ .
Joe Mackey was married to "Cousin DoDo" who still lives in Lahinch.
Michael Garrahy is a third cousin.

While Bridget was researching our ancestry, she found
many references to the Garrahy name.

mvc-177s.jpg (45408 bytes) mvc-178s.jpg (137549 bytes) mvc-179s.jpg (52237 bytes)

mvc-180s.jpg (55669 bytes) mvc-181s.jpg (59553 bytes)

Outside of the town of Ennistymon on the road to Lachinch there is
a monument documenting the oppression of the poor during the
Great Famine.  It is best described by the text in the above plaques.
